Upstate Chapter Field Trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway

Join the South Carolina Native Plant Society for a scenic journey along the Blue Ridge Parkway with native plant experts Rick Huffman and Dan Whitten. This guided field trip will take you through breathtaking mountain landscapes, where you’ll witness rhododendrons in bloom, vibrant wildflowers, and fascinating geological features—just a short drive from home.

  • Date: Saturday, May 24, 2025
  • Time: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM 
  • Meeting Location: Directions will be provided upon registration.
  • Cost: $15 per person
  • Difficulty: Easy – minimal walking, mostly van-based travel
  • Limit: 28 attendees

What to Expect:

We’ll travel together in a van, stopping at key points to explore and discuss the plants and ecosystems of the Parkway. Tag-along vehicles are not permitted for safety reasons.

What to Bring:

  • Be prepared for sun or light rain.
  • Wear footwear suitable for short trail walks.
  • Pack your own lunch and water.
  • Bring sunscreen.
