John Nelson Presents an Overview of the Mint Family May 14

At the Midlands Chapter’s May 14 meeting, Dr. John Nelson will present “An Overview of the Mint Family (Lamiaceae).” John is Curator Emeritus of USC’s A.C. Moore Herbarium and a specialist in the Lamiaceae family, in particular the genus Stachys, which he has been researching for more than 50 years.

In 2014 he coauthored with Douglas Rayner, “A New Hedgenettle (Stachys: Lamiaceae) from South Carolina U.S.A,” documenting the new species, Stachys caroliniana, first collected by Rayner in 1977 and later identified by Nelson.
