On Thursday, June 29, Friends of the Reedy River (FoRR) will be hosting a SC Adopt-a-Stream Macroinvertebrate Volunteer Monitoring Workshop in Greenville. This is a popular event, and REGISTRATION IS FULL, but you can be the first to learn about future events by clicking HERE.

No need to be an environmentalist or scholar to become a water quality monitor! Everyone is welcome to learn how to collect data that can help protect and restore freshwater streams. During the FoRR training, which involves both classroom and in-stream instruction, volunteer monitors learn about stream habitats and pollution sources, and practice collecting and identifying macroinvertebrates. They also learn how to select a site, use the equipment, collect samples, test water quality, enter data, assess stream conditions, and practice safety in the field. After completing the training, Adopt-a-Stream volunteers are qualified to monitor testing sites throughout the Reedy River Watershed.
