The Upstate chapter of the South Carolina Native Plant Society is excited to announce significant progress in our efforts to relocate the Upstate Native Nursery to Conestee Nature Preserve. Following a series of approvals and discussions, we are moving forward with plans that promise to enhance our ability to cultivate native plants and support local ecosystems.
Contract Signing with Johnston Design Group
On April 9, 2024, the Upstate Board officially approved the architect to create the plans and take us through the permitting process. We have signed a contract with the Johnston Design Group, a firm known for their environmentally conscious practices. This partnership is crucial as we prepare the plans for the new site. The Johnston Design Group’s involvement will ensure that the project aligns with our sustainability goals and meets the necessary standards.
Next Steps
Our immediate next step is to convene with the Johnston Design Group and finalize the details of the site plans. This will be followed by obtaining a bid and making a final decision on whether to proceed. Throughout this process, we will keep our members and supporters updated on our progress.
The new greenhouse is more than just a facility; it represents our dedication to preserving and nurturing native plant species in our region. Thank you to everyone involved for their hard work and commitment to the Upstate Native Nursery.
