by Sue Watts
Rick Huffman’s tireless, passionate and dedicated advocacy for the environment has garnered him many accolades over his lifetime of service. The most recent, the Green Tie Lifetime Achievement Award, was bestowed by the Conservation Voters of South Carolina, a non-partisan organization dedicated to protecting South Carolina’s natural resources.
Picking from his long career as an environmental advocate, the group highlighted Rick’s role as co-founder of the South Carolina Native Plant Society, his work on the Black River Water Trail & Park Network and his involvement in the statewide Rosenwald School Trail project as a few elements of his numerous contributions to environmental stewardship.
Rick’s Lifetime Conservation Award was presented on September 18 in Columbia. Check out the video created by CVSC, honoring Rick’s lifetime of conservation efforts and the incredible impact of his work.
