A big thank you to everyone who bought plants at our spring plant sale! Now, after planting all those awesome native plants, are you wondering what to do with all of those pots you have lying around? Don’t throw them away! The Upstate Native Nursery (UNN) would love to take them back to pot up your future garden additions. The UNN can accept your donations of empty nursery pots and plastic nursery trays. This initiative helps the environment by promoting the reuse of materials, reducing waste, and supporting native plant conservation efforts, aka Reduce, Reuse, Repot! Here’s how you can participate.

What Pots and Trays Are Accepted?

The UNN can reuse plastic nursery pots up to ten inches in diameter, as long as they do not have logos on the side. Additionally, plastic nursery trays are also accepted. By contributing these items, you’re helping the nursery save resources and continue its mission of nurturing and promoting native plants.

How to Donate Your Pots and Trays

To ensure a smooth and efficient donation process, please follow these guidelines:

  • Do Contact the UNN: Before dropping off your items, reach out to the UNN to arrange a suitable time for the donation. You can contact them via email at unn@scnps.org.
  • Don’t Bring Pots Unscheduled: Please refrain from visiting the Putnams’ residence or the UNN at odd hours without prior arrangement. This helps maintain a respectful and orderly process.

Why Reuse Nursery Pots?

Reusing nursery pots and trays offers several benefits:

  • Environmental Conservation: Reducing plastic waste helps protect the environment and supports sustainability.
  • Cost Savings: Reusing pots reduces the need for purchasing new ones, allowing the UNN to allocate more resources to growing native plants.
  • Community Involvement: Your participation fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility for environmental stewardship.

Get Involved!

Donating your empty nursery pots and trays is a simple yet impactful way to support the Upstate Native Nursery and contribute to environmental conservation efforts in South Carolina. If you have any questions or need further information, don’t hesitate to contact the UNN at unn@scnps.org.

Together, we can make a difference, one pot at a time!
