Dr. Martin A. Hamilton: “Native Plant Conservation and the SC Botanical Garden”
On May 20th, we welcome Dr. Martin Hamilton, Executive Director of the South Carolina Botanical Garden, for a presentation on the vital role botanic gardens play in conserving native plants. Martin will explore how SCBG uses ex-situ conservation, habitat restoration, seed banking, and public engagement to protect plant biodiversity. He’ll also share exciting new projects and ongoing work at the Garden, and how you can get involved in these efforts.
From cultivating rare and endangered species to creating wildlife-supporting habitats and educating the public, the SC Botanical Garden plays a multifaceted role in conservation. Whether you’re a casual gardener or a conservation professional, this talk will offer insight into how gardens like SCBG are working to safeguard native flora for generations to come.
