Are You The One?

We know you’re out there, and we need you!

Every worthy organization needs a committed, energetic leader at the helm—and our Upstate Chapter is no different. As we approach the end of the year and our wonderful Chapter President Pam Barbour comes to the end of her term, there’s an opportunity for someone to step up and fill this role.

Might that special someone be you?

Maybe you’re a longstanding member of our chapter and it finally feels like time to take on more responsibility to help advance this cause that’s dear to all of us. Or maybe you’ve recently joined the chapter and you have fresh ideas and energy to contribute; we welcome those!

We are calling on all members who have a passion for native plants and conservation, as well as a desire to contribute to the SCNPS Upstate Chapter in a leadership capacity. (Admit it: Doesn’t that sound like you?) Whether you have experience in financial management or leadership, or simply a willingness to learn and a commitment to our mission, we encourage you to consider stepping forward.

By joining the leadership team, you will have the chance to shape the future of the flagship chapter of the SCNPS, support important conservation efforts, and work with a fantastic group of dedicated individuals.

What does this role entail?, you might ask. Good question. Our bylaws offer a succinct list of duties:

  • The Chapter President (or his/her designee) presides at all meetings of the chapter and the Board of Directors.
  • The Chapter President acts as our official spokesperson, representing chapter goals, activities, projects, and programs to other allied organizations and the public.
  • The Chapter President actively works to increase the usefulness and prosperity of the chapter.

We know there are many of you who have the skillset and commitment to handle those duties. So why not make this the year you step forward and offer your unique capabilities for our organization? What a great opportunity to ensure a bright and sustainable future for the SCNPS Upstate Chapter and make a positive impact on our local environment and community.

If you are interested or know someone who might be perfect as our next President, please get in touch with us ASAP. You can write to us at upstatepresident@scnps.org. Thank you and we can’t wait to hear from YOU!
