Volunteer Alongside Friends of the Reedy River and Upstate Forever at Upcoming September Workdays

This September, two opportunities in the Upstate invite you to roll up your sleeves and support partner organizations working to protect waterways and natural areas.


Upstate Forever — Invasive Species Removal at Nalley Brown Nature Park

Saturday, September 20 |10:00 am–12:00 pm | Easley

Join Upstate Forever and the City of Easley for a volunteer workday at Nalley Brown Nature Park, a 38-acre property conserved in 2006. Volunteers will help remove invasive plants like Chinese privet and autumn olive to improve habitat for native wildlife.

  • Meeting location: West End Elementary School, 314 Pelzer Hwy, Easley, SC 29642 (shuttle provided to the park).

  • What to bring: Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Tools and gloves will be provided, though you may bring your own.

Friends of the Reedy River — Boyds Mill Pond Cleanup

Thursday, September 25 | 9:00–11:00 am | Laurens

Join Friends of the Reedy River, Keep Laurens County Beautiful, and LCWSC for a cleanup at Karl Dixon Memorial Park on Boyds Mill Pond. Supplies will be provided — just bring your energy and enthusiasm to help keep this community resource beautiful.

  • When: Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 9:00–11:00 am

  • Where: Karl Dixon Memorial Park, 1245 Boyds Mill Pond Road, Laurens, SC 29360

  • What to bring: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty; all cleanup supplies provided.
