Hey, guess what? The Upstate SCNPS Spring Native Plant Sale is next month! You, our avid and engaged reader, probably already knew that. But do you know who may not? Your friends, your family, your coworkers—that person standing next to you in the grocery store line.

The power behind this great society comes from people like you who believe in our mission and share it with others. Every conversation matters. Tell everyone you can. Native plants aren’t just beautiful; they are essential for a thriving environment. Every purchase from our plant sale helps restore habitat, support pollinators, and promote biodiversity in our communities. But to make it happen, we need YOU.

Why Native? Start the Conversation

You’ve probably seen our Why Native Fact of the Month in the newsletter this year. As part of our Grow Back Native campaign, we want to equip you with real data you can use to help others understand why native plants matter—whether they are restoring storm-ravaged landscapes or expanding their gardens.

Someone recently asked why the Why is in Why Native Fact of the Month. The answer is simple: it’s intentional. Each fact isn’t just an interesting tidbit—it’s a compelling reason to choose native plants. We want you to use these facts as conversation starters, to help others see why native plants are essential for preserving local ecosystems, boosting biodiversity, and promoting sustainability. Use them—that’s what they’re there for.

We need your help to get more people talking about native plants—and what better way to start than by inviting them to our sale? Spread the word in whatever way works for you. Email our plant sale flyer to a friend, post about the sale on social media, mention it at work, or bring it up while chatting with a neighbor. Shout it from your rooftop! (Okay, maybe not—but if you do, let us know how it goes.)

Disclaimer: SCNPS does not endorse or encourage climbing on rooftops, ladders, trees, or any other high places to promote native plants. Please spread the word safely. We just can’t help kidding around sometimes.

Volunteers Needed!

In addition to spreading the word, we need volunteers to help make this sale a success. Right now, we have a critical need for volunteers to help with loading and transporting plants—especially those with trucks and trailers. If you can lend a hand (or a vehicle), your help will ensure these plants make it from our growers to eager customers who are ready to give them a forever home.
