Join us at our next meeting where the Upstate Native Nursery will be giving away packets of native plant seeds! In the future, we may also offer excess seedlings and plants from the nursery. Look for Diane and Joe—many of you may remember them from last year’s meetings when they kindly provided refreshments.
How You Can Contribute:
- Seed & Seedling Donations: Members are welcome to bring seeds and seedlings of native plants. Please ensure that any contributions are native to the Upstate region of South Carolina and have been collected with the property owner’s permission.
- Identification is Key: When donating, please label your seeds with the scientific name and the source (for example, “John’s Garden, Greenville Co.”). If you need assistance with plant identification, visit namethatplant.net for helpful information.
- Large Packets: If you have large packets of seeds, feel free to bring them along. We may take them back to the nursery to clean, sort, and package them into smaller quantities for distribution.
Looking Ahead:
The Upstate Native Nursery is also on the lookout for seeds, seedlings, divisions, and cuttings of unusual, locally collected native plants. Our goal is to expand our selection for future plant sales, but we can only grow what we can find. If you have unusual native plants available, please consider donating them to the volunteers distributing seed packets at the meetings.
If you have any questions or need more information, don’t hesitate to email us at unn@scnps.org.
