The Awakening: To Land Ethics, to Nature, and Natural History
Saturday, November 22 | 9:30–11:30 AM | REI Greenville
Join Rick Huffman, SCNPS Founder and Upstate Chapter President, for a special presentation at REI Greenville exploring the deep connections between people and the natural world. In The Awakening: To Land Ethics, to Nature, and Natural History, Rick invites us to examine the ethical questions behind our relationship with the land — our values, our responsibilities, and our place as “biological citizens.”
Drawing from the perspectives of early explorers and botanists, this talk encourages a renewed awareness of the landscapes that shaped us and continue to sustain us. Rick’s storytelling and decades of ecological design experience make this a fascinating journey through nature, history, and the roots of environmental ethics.
The event is free and open to the public, with time afterward to chat and learn more about the South Carolina Native Plant Society.
