At Patrick Harris Psychiatric Hospital in Anderson, the Healing Garden continues to grow—both in size and in spirit. The hospital’s native garden, part of the larger Healing Garden project, features plants from the Upstate Native Nursery, Blue Oak Horticulture, and transplants from Chaplain Stephanie Patterson’s own garden.
Patients participate in planting and tending native species as part of their spiritual care practice, finding peace and purpose in the process. Each year, new plants and murals are added, creating a living space that reflects renewal, creativity, and connection to nature.
