Funging and Promoting Native Plants in the Midlands
Midlands Community Grants Program
Planting a grant-funded demonstration garden at Saluda Riverwalk in Columbia
The Midlands Chapter of the South Carolina Native Plant Society is excited to offer funding for projects and scholarships that benefit our mission of promoting native plants through protection, conservation, and education. With this grant program, our chapter can support local organizations (neighborhoods, student groups, schools, churches, or nonprofits) interested in projects that support our mission. We also hope to support individuals seeking training or education through small scholarships. This might include pursuit of Master Naturalist certification, Native Plant certification, or attendance at appropriate conferences, courses, or degree programs.
We anticipate project awards up to $2000 and scholarship awards up to $200. Applications will be due 1 January and 1 July, and awards will be announced within two months after due dates.
Eligibility
- Projects/Scholarship requests must address the goals of protecting, conserving, and/or educating the public about native plants.
- The project must be located in the Midlands of South Carolina (This includes the Columbia metro area, as well as counties nearby that serve our membership).

Requirements
- Funding will be through reimbursement after proof of project completion with approval of receipts.
- Funding must be spent within two years of grant approval by the Chapter.
- An agreement must be signed with the understanding that the recipient will give a presentation about the project/scholarship to the SCNPS Midlands Chapter.
