Verbascum thapsus from Becky in SC

Posted on |

This plant was growing on land which has both open fields and woods. It was growing where the woods and open land meet. The plant is a light green color and has velvety leaves. The largest one is 30″ wide with leaves that are 14″ long.

Hi Becky,

your plant is the common mullein, Verbascum thapsus, a common introduction from Europe.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
