Pineapple guava from David in Virginia

Posted on |

I spotted the plant in the historic district of Charleston Tuesday May 14. I can’t remember whether shady or sunny or other background stuff.

Hi David,

this shrub is called the pineapple guava, Acca sellowiana, also known as feijoa. It is not native and is sensitive to frost, so can only be grown in warm areas.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
