Wax myrtle from Joanne in sc

It is a shrub. We moved to fort mill from Virginia and had the next yard mostly kept in native plants. This is a shrub I think. And spread through root system. Since there is a bunch of them in close proximity. I never saw berries or flowers over the last year. It is evergreen

Hi Joanne,

this looks like Wax myrtle, Myrica cerifera.  If you have not seen flowers or berries, it is probably male. Crush a leaf and smell it – it should be pleasantly fragrant.

Sincerely,
