This shrub/small tree is on the north side of Tennet Mountain in Pisgah NF. The texture and berries suggested viburnum but not one I know.

I think someone planted this one or it is an escape. I think it is Viburnum setigerum, the tea viburnum. You can find out more about it here: https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/all/viburnum-setigerum/
