What is this VERY! tiny white spring blooming (now, in May) flower that grows in dry, sandy soil?
Hi Mary,
This is called coastal plain wireplant, Stipulicida setacea. It is an inconspicuous native wildflower in the Caryophyllaceae, the Carnation family. You can find out more about it here: http://coastalplainplants.org/wiki/index.php/Stipulicida_setacea
I’m sure many people have not noticed it. Good eyes!
Sincerely,
Dr Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
