Senecio aureus from Meg in SC

Found hiking on our property in Northern Greenville County about 10 days ago – on an open trail maybe elevation around 1400 ft. On a southern slope – not too near any trees or other plants.

this is one of the golden ragworts, Senecio aureus. A nice native Spring flower. You can find out more about it here:

Some place it in the genus Packera now.
