Polymnia uvedalia from Jamie in SC

Posted on |

This plant is growing in a flood prone area where two creeks come together in Richland county. They are 5-6 feet tall, die off in the fall/winter, and have small yellow flowers.

Hi Jamie,

this native plant is called Polymnia uvedalia, or bearfoot, in the sunflower family. Some call it Smallanthus uvedalia.

Sincerely,

Steven Hill, Ph.D. Botanist SCNPS
