Found while hiking in mountains . I know it is a trillium, and think painted trillium, but berry looks circular.
The second one, is it a mountain hydrsngea?

I think you are correct that this is the painted trillium, Trillium undulatum. In our area, it is not found at lower elevations, and so I don’t think it has been found in South Carolina. Your second image, not seen here, looks like a Joe-Pye weed, Eupatorium purpureum. It is not a hydrangea. However, please post your identification requests separately.
