Morus alba? from Virginia in SC

Posted on |

This winter, I saw maybe a dozen of these seedlings in our neighborhood. I didn’t recognize it, so I took one home and potted it up. It has grown quickly, and is about 3 or 3.5 feet in these photos. The last photo shows the back of a leaf.

Thanks for your help,
Virginia

Hi Virginia,

I seem to have lost your original inquiry with the photos. It would be good if you could send it again with current pictures. I can only guess at this one – it looks like it could be a mulberry, Morus alba, which is spread by birds.  However, that is the best I can do at the moment.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
