Lycoris radiata from Don in SC

Have these flowers popping out of the ground in my yard can you help me identify these plants

Hi Don,

this is a very attractive relative of the amaryllis called the magic lily, or naked ladies, Lycoris radiata. It is often planted and not native. The leaves appear in the winter or early spring and die down before it flowers in the summer.

Sincerely,

Steven Hill, Ph.D., Botanist, SCNPS
