Hi, Dr. Hill,
This plant was growing at the edge of a pond in full sun the Fall Line and the photographs were taken between Aug. 10-25. I’m also attaching close up pictures of the leaves, as well as blossoms in various stages of opening. Thank you for taking a look at these.
Diane
Hi Diane,
this wetland plant is one of the many species of Ludwigia and it matches the rattlebox, Ludwigia alternifolia, very well. We have 23 species of Ludwigia, at least, in the Carolinas.
Sincerely,
Steve Hill, Ph.D., Botanist, SCNPS
