It’s about 4 ft with a huge stem. It just starting growing out of nowhere

this is one of our native species of wild lettuce, Lactuca canadensis. It has several leaf forms. Yes, it grows quickly! Of course it is mostly water. It is a relative of cultivated lettuce but much too bitter to eat.
