Houttuynia cordata from Becky, Richland County, SC

Posted on |

It is a ground cover in growing habit, spreads rapidly and it’s height is approximately 6″-8″. It has red stems, heart shaped leaves and is blooming now with smallish white flowers. It does well in sun, but will also thrive in part shade.

What am I???

Thanks SO much! Becky

Hi Becky,

you are a chameleon plant, Houttuynia cordata, a nice non-native garden plant that can spread in rich moist soil.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
