Hollyhock from DeLila in Wyoming

Dr. Hill,
I found your website on the internet. I am sending a photo of this plant that is growing next to our house. We hope you can help us identify it. We don’t know whether to pull it up or to nurture it. We live in the northeast corner of Wyoming – a zone 3-4. Thank-you for your help.
DeLila L.

Hi DeLila,

Your mystery plant is a hollyhock, Alcea rosea, a fine garden plant with beautiful flowers.  Worth keeping. We have them in the Carolinas, too.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Steve Hill SCNPS
