The weird and kinda cool plant is growing in my lawn
Alexandra,
this is a great native plant, an annual sundew, Drosera capillaris. This is an insect-eating plant related to the Venus-flytrap, but the leaves do not close as fast. It catches tiny gnats, mostly, with the glue on its hairs and the leaf closes like a fist. They need saturated acidic sandy soil, but no standing water. The flowers are small, but pretty.
Sincerely,
Dr. Steven R. Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
