Euonymus americanus from Stan in South Carolina

Lived on old farm prop for 47 yrs and this plant has grown from 1/2″ to 3/4 ” old tree. Several smaller scrubs have grown thru the years from seed droppings. All are wondered by its beauty It has grown among Holly, Dogwood, Cedar. Oaks, and wild plums. Very pretty nowthat it has opened dropping ie’s seed.

Hi Stan,

this is often called hearts-a-bustin-with-love, or Strawberry bush,  Euonymus americanus. It is a rather common green-stemmed weak forest shrub, native.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
