Hi JP,

your picture shows the opened fruit of Euonymus americanus, called locally Hearts-a-bustin-with-Love, a wonderful name.  It is a native shrub, a pink fruit with orange seeds dangling from it. Strawberry bush is an alternate common name.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
