A double-flowered deutzia from Beryl

Posted on |

This plant is growing at a home site I recently purchased in St Francisville, Louisiana. The plant is growing like a clump/bush about seven ft tall. The trunks of the plant are peeling like the bark of a Crepe Myrtle. I hope the picture gives enough definition of the flowers.

Thanks in advance

Hi Beryl,

this is a a popular non-native flowering shrub named Deutzia crenata ‘Plena’.  There is no other common name other than deutzia.  It is a relative of the mock orange, Philadelphus.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
