A loosestrife from Diane, SC

Hi, Dr. Hill,
Thank you for your most recent identifications. This flower was located on July 2, Fall Line, remote country road in full sun. I stopped to photograph something else much showier, then noticed these dainty flowers. I appreciate your time.
Diane

Hi Diane,

your plant is Lythrum lanceolatum, also called Lythrum alatum var. lanceolatum, the winged loosestrife. It is a nice native plant usually found in wet marshes and ditches.

I hope this helps.  I greatly appreciate the ‘thank you’ – you are most welcome.

Sincerely,

Steve Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
