We have an open field next to our home, this year is the first year it has not been mowed and I noticed what looks like blackberries growing in the field. they don’t grow in a bramble they seem to just creep out along the ground everywhere.
LaTell,
these are dewberries, a type of creeping blackberry. When fully ripe, usually nearly black, they are great to eat, and especially in cereal and as a jam. Rubus trivialis, Rosaceae.
Sincerely,
Dr. Steven R. Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
