Cupressus x leylandii from Paul in South Carolina

Posted on |

This is an evergreen hedge. It does not grow real fast but is thick. I am in zone 8a. Thank you.

Hi Paul,

this appears to be the commonly grown Leyland cypress, Cupressus x leylandii. It is a fast growing evergreen coniferous tree hybrid much used in the south, as separate trees or as hedges.  They can grow up to 50 ft tall if not trimmed.  They are very similar to junipers, or red cedars, but do not have berries.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steven Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
