Chimaphila maculata from Jackie, SC

This plant is currently blooming in a shady wooded area (oaks, wild holly, dogwood). Height: about 6 inches.

Hi Jackie,  your plant is the evergreen perennial Spotted wintergreen, Chimaphila maculata.  It likes acidic soil and is often found in pine plantings as well – and it can be in quite dry forests.  It was once placed in the family Pyrolaceae, but today it is often included with the blueberries in the Ericaceae. — Steve Hill
