Carolina horsenettle from Kimberly, South Carolina

Posted on |

Found growing along the water’s edge of lake Wylie. Growing on shore and in the water along the shoreline. Photo taken at the end of May. There were tiny thorns along stem.

Hi Kimberly,

this is the Carolina horsenettle, Solanum carolinense.  It is actually a widespread weedy native of pastures and farms, especially.

Sincerely,

Steve Hill, Ph.D., Botanist, SCNPS
