Boltonia asteroides an Muhlenbergia from Virginia in SC

There are two plants in my photos I’m curious about. They are growing at water’s edge near a boat ramp in Charleston. I’m guessing the white flower may be Boltonia asteroides, but I can’t ID the grass. Is it a Lovegrass (Eragrostis), a Sweetgrass (Muhlenbergia), or something else?

Thanks for your help,
Virginia

Hi Virginia,

I agree that your white flowered plant is Boltonia asteroides, the grass is certainly a Muhlenbergia but I do not know the species very well.  I would go with the habitat in identifying this particular Muhlenbergia.  Few are found in wet places.

I hope this helps.
