Bluets from Catherine in SC

Posted on |

I saw this flower Saturday in Dupont State Park in NC. It was growing between some exposed tree roots about 7′ away from the river.

Please advise name. Thank you

Catherine,

this is one of the bluets, Houstonia serpyllifolia. It is commonly found along streams, especially in the Upstate and mountains.

Sincerely,

Steve Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
