An abomination from Ken in SC

Viny plant with a very strange flowering structure. Growing in an open area at the edge of a large swamp near North Augusta, SC

Ken,

I’m not sure what the vine is from that picture, but you are dealing with either an insect gall or a fungus on this plant.  It is not a flowering structure.  If you want the host identified I will need a picture showing more of the plant.  I could guess it is poison ivy – but that is only a guess.
