The piedmont physiographic region of Evergreens occur in almost every natural plant community in South Carolina. They are easy to spot against the otherwise gray landscape of winter. By using their characteristics of location, leaves, buds and fruit, one can easily begin to identify them. Botanical names such as sempervirens, meaning “always green”, or Chimaphila, meaning “winter loving:, even give you a clue to their evergreen status. Join naturalists Tim Lee and Tricia Kyzer to explore the winter world of evergreens.

Prerequisite Basic Botany. Please register by November 25.
