Lowcountry Outing: Black River Cypress Preserve
September 25 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Trip Leader: Botanist Cecelia Dailey
Location: 16368 County Line Rd, Andrews, SC 29510
Details: Escape Charleston for the day by joining us on a tour of this new preserve on the Black River. This trek will be, according to our BRCP guide (botanist Celie Dailey), “rigorous.” Weather and plant phenology permitting, we will search for birds-in-a-nest, Macbridea caroliniana, in flower, through habitat outside of the area normally toured by the public. Please wear hiking shoes/boots and pants appropriate for swampy terrain. Bring plenty of water and a sense of adventure!
There will be a catered lunch option for $12/person following our hike (meat, vegetarian, and vegan courses available); we will coordinate lunch orders with participants during sign up.
Space is limited to the first 12 members who register. To register, contact Austin Trousdale, [email protected] (preferred) or 864-554-8722. Individuals registering by e-mail must include their phone number. Register by Sunday, Sept 19th if you plan to order lunch. All other registrants: please RSVP by Wednesday, Sept 22nd.
