Lecture Topic: Longleaf Pine Restoration in the Southeastern United States

Speaker: Colette DeGarady, Longleaf Pine Whole System Director for The Nature Conservancy

Description: Colette will speak about the ongoing longleaf pine forest restoration occurring in SC and across the historic range from east Texas to southern Virginia. This native forest and its associated habitats are home to a quarter of North America’s plant species. Colette will share some places you can visit longleaf forests and her favorite backyard plants that are also found in the understory of longleaf pine forests.

Tasty snacks will be provided after the lecture (BYO non-alcoholic beverage or water bottle). We will meet in our previous location in The Citadel’s Duckett Hall Biology Auditorium, 2 Jones Ave, Charleston, SC 29403. Free parking is available after 5:00 PM in the parking lot south of Richardson Street, accessible from Mims Ave. Enter Duckett Hall from Jones Ave and take your first left from the stairwell into the Biology Auditorium.
