Lowcountry Lecture: Native Shrubs for Small Spaces

October 18, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Speaker: Anthony Trimboli, Busy Bee Nursery and Consulting (Glasgow, KY)

Lecture Title: South Carolina Native Shrubs for Smaller Spaces

Date/Time: Tuesday, October 18th, 6:30-8:00 pm

Location: Online (Zoom and Facebook Live)

Important note: We have been asked by the speaker not to share a recording of this event — because speaking fees are an important part of his small business — so in order to see this great-sounding talk you’ll need to tune in on 10/18 at 6:30 pm!

Anthony will cover about a half-dozen species of shrubs that are native to the South Carolina Lowcountry. The list includes a mix of sun-shade species, some that hold excellent winter interest, are excellent pollinator plants, and even one that grows as a large shrub/small tree that is also a host plant for the giant swallowtail. All of these shrubs stay relatively small and don’t require much work to keep them looking nice. They are all also fairly easy to care for.

Anthony holds a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology from Murray State University (Kentucky) and a Master’s degree in Agriculture from Western Kentucky University. He hosts several short but entertaining videos uploaded to Backyard Ecology’s channel on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/BackyardEcology/videos).
