Lowcountry Lecture: Carbon & Climate Benefits of Longleaf Pine Forests
February 15 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Speaker: Dr. Tom O’Halloran of Clemson University
Dr. Tom O’Halloran is an Assistant Professor in the Forestry and Environmental Conservation Department and stationed at the Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science in Georgetown.
In his talk, Dr. O’Halloran will describe how his research group uses state of the art technology to measure plant photosynthesis and carbon cycling at the landscape scale in order to understand how plants respond to, and influence, Earth’s climate. The talk will focus on recent and ongoing work to understand the atmospheric carbon sequestration provided by longleaf pine on Hobcaw Barony.
