Lowcountry: Lecture featuring scholarship and grant recipients

April 16 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

WE ARE TOOTING OUR HORN!!   IF YOU CAN DO IT, IT AIN’T BRAGGING.
Spring Grant Recipients, a Scholarship Opportunity, and a Review of Our Conservation Properties
Did you know that SCNPS Lowcountry sponsors $4,000 annually in community project grants? Come hear how two grant recipients will be using our funding!  SC Sea Grant Consortium will invite students and volunteers (including us!) to grow Spartina grass from seed and then plant it behind volunteer-built oyster reefs to protect eroding salt marshes. Tony Bertauski and his Trident Tech students will construct and install a floating wetland in a public retention pond; next spring, the plants will be retrieved and planted along the pond’s bank. Jeff Jackson will announce our sponsorship of the Cullowee Conference and our chapter-funded conference scholarship, now accepting applicants. Jeff will also review the outstanding botanical sites we own and manage.
