On Monday, October 10, from noon until 2pm, we will have a Kudzu Killing Party in early celebration of SC Native Plant Week which is officially Oct. 21-28.  This is at the new non-motorized boat ramp at Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee.  During the Beach Sweep sponsored by Friends of Jocassee, a small Kudzu patch was discovered at the overflow or first parking lot for the paddle boat access. This is the first boat access to the lake on the road past the campground.  There are lots of nice wildflowers out in the open area around the parking area and it would be a shame to get smothered by this invasive exotic.  We want to pull up all the shoots and get to the main tap root(s) and cut off the crown(s).  So bring gloves, clippers and sharp bladed spade or mattock to get the crown.  Let’s stop this invasion before it takes hold and is almost impossible to control.
