Jocassee Gorges Upper Lake Tour

April 9 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Rare Plants of the Jocassee Gorges

As one of the benefits of membership with SCNPS, we will be teaming up with our friends at Jocassee Lake Tours to offer a second ‘‘members-only’ expedition on the upper regions of Lake Jocassee to visit the rare and beautiful native spring ephemerals by boat and trail.

The Upper Lake Tour will be on Friday, April 9th (10am-2pm) and will involve a little more boat time to the northern lake areas where other rare plants like Trilliums will be reaching their peak.

Each boat will be limited to 8 passengers (due to COVID) with its own Master Naturalist guide, including our own Dan Whitten.  The guide ratio of 1:8 assures not only our safety but an excellent interpretative experience as well. We’ll depart from the Devils Fork State Park boat ramp for both trips.  The trip cost will be about $50 per person and is refundable in the event of foul weather.

Although this trip is 100% outdoors, we request everyone bring a mask.  Wearing a mask is somewhat optional, however, we encourage the wearing anytime you’re within six feet of others, or upwind of them.

The deadline for registration for the Upper Lake tour is March 27th.
