A Voodoo Lily from Helen

Posted on |

This is a plant that sprung up in a spare flower pot in Zachary Louisiana. Its a fast grower. The picture with the measuring stick is a yard stick. The last picture is a picture of the trunk.

Hi Helen,

your plant is Amorphophallus konjac, often called Leopard palm or Voodoo Lily, and it is related to the famous corpse flower, Amorphophallus titanum. It has a large corm like that of its relative, the Jack-in-the-pulpit.

Sincerely,

Steve Hill, Botanist, SCNPS
