Spring starflower from Lynn, SC

These small little white flowers are popping out all over the back yard. It’s our first spring here and I wondered what they were bc I wanted to grow many many more. Some flowers are all white and some have a pretty bluish purple tint in the creases.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me identify these sweet little plants!

Sincerely, Lynn Ann Williams

Hi Lynn Ann,

your plant is a nice spring flower, native to Argentina but it likes our climate and it can spread. It has bulbs that can easily be transplanted.   It is Ipheion uniflorum, Spring starflower, placed in the lily family or, if one recognizes it, the onion family Alliaceae.

You can find more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipheion_uniflorum

Thanks for asking!
